Afterbeat is a watchOS-only app for manually logging private rhythm-based sessions on Apple Watch. This page explains what data the app accesses, how the data is used, and what the app does not do.
Overview
Afterbeat is designed to keep data handling simple and local whenever possible. The app runs on Apple Watch and helps users manually record private rhythm-based sessions.
Data We Access
- Motion data from Apple Watch sensors
- Heart-rate data from HealthKit, only when the user grants permission
- Workout session information required to keep an active session running
How Data Is Used
- Record session duration
- Estimate rhythm and motion-related session metrics
- Generate session summaries
- Optionally include heart-rate context in a summary
- Store local session history on the userâs device
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not require account creation.
- We do not upload session history to a remote server by default.
Storage
Session history is stored locally on the userâs device. If a future version introduces cloud sync, account systems, or server-side backup, this policy must be updated before those features are released.
Health Data
If the user grants HealthKit access, Afterbeat reads heart-rate data during and after a session in order to improve the session summary. Afterbeat is not a medical app and does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice.
User Control
- Users manually start and end sessions.
- Users can revoke HealthKit permissions in Apple system settings.
- Users can delete session history from inside the app.
Children
Afterbeat is not directed to children.
